10-YEAR PLAN UPDATE:
The Turtle Mountain Reservation is engaged in strategic planning to end long term homelessness adn utilizing the city of Fargo's model plan. There is a diverse group working on the Turtle Mountain 10-year plan. Entities involved in helping get data on the homeless include the school system, the general assistance office, human services, housing office, 5th Generation (drug rehabilitation), landlords (Section 8), and county social services. There is a need for more housing. Assistance is being given by the Region 3 Human Service Center to determine supportive service needs.

Prairie Heights is a permanent supportive housing facility in Devil's Lake for single adults who are homeless and/or diagnosed with a serious mental illness. Our goal is to enable each resident to simultaneously experience movement toward greater independence and empowerment, while benefiting from daily supervision, supportive services and job skills. Intensive support services and daily supervision services include comprehensive case management from LRHSC an 24-hour access to the staff. The goals are to help each resident become self-reliant and maintain an independent lifestyle. In order to achieve these goals, support services are offered. Prairie Heights is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week, to be responsive to resident needs. We have one full-time staff and four part-time staff that provide guidance and monitoring per collaboration with each residents case manager. The counties served at Prairie Heights are Benson, Eddy, Rolette, Towner and the two reservations are Spirit Lake and Turtle Mountain. There are twenty-three one-bedroom apartments. Staff utilize two units and twenty-one are "home" to residents.
